Key Facts
On Chhattisgarh's formation day, 1 November 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai that Maoist violence, long the biggest hurdle to the state's progress, has sharply declined and areas once called the 'Red Corridor' are becoming centres of peace, trust and development. He noted that the state now has four airports against a single Delhi-Raipur flight 25 years ago, rail projects worth over ₹31,000 crore, Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat services, and expressways that have halved the Raipur-Bilaspur travel time. He added that free grain reaches 73 lakh families, 22 lakh houses have been built, over 11 lakh rural households have tap water, and 68 lakh women receive ₹1,000 a month under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. The claim reflects the Centre's stated aim of ending Left Wing Extremism.
